Arabian Cement Company extend UC3® hydrogen technology across its full production capacity

Press Release

UTIS has announced the expansion of its UC3® hydrogen injection technology at Arabian Cement Company’s (ACC) cement plant in Ain Sokhna, Egypt, which is now being implemented on the second production line, following the very positive results achieved on the first line.

With this expansion, UC3® technology now covers the entire clinker production capacity of the Ain Sokhna plant, representing a relevant and strategic step in ACC’s decarbonisation roadmap and building on the company’s established track record in energy efficiency and alternative fuel integration.

UC3® Technology enables a fast and more efficient burning process through the controlled injection of hydrogen into the combustion , contributing to improved flame stability, enhanced thermal performance and a measurable reduction in CO₂ emissions. The solution was designed for integration into existing kiln systems, facilitating its industrial implementation without the need for significant structural modifications.

“The successful implementation of UC3® technology on the first production line confirmed its added-value as a practical and effective tool to support our decarbonisation strategy. Extending the UC3® technology to the second line allows us to maximise its impact across the entire Ain Sokhna operation,” – Sergio Alcantarilla, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Arabian Cement Company.

The project is aligned with international regulatory and market requirements, including the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), positioning ACC as a reference in the industrial implementation of hydrogen-based technologies within the global cement sector.
